Eastwood and Holt has played an instrumental role in the development of the Namibian karakul industry and has also actively participated in the promotion of karakul in the United States. In the 1940s the company lobbied in the U.S. to retain the valuable word "Persian" in respect to Namibian karakul pelts, and also successfully removed priceceilings from Namibian karakul pelts sold in the United States.225
